SCIPIO — Betty J. Dysart (Ceinwen Elizabeth Dysart), 96, of Scipio, passed away Friday, May 17, 2019, in Hospicare & Palliative Care Services in Ithaca, after a brief illness.
Betty was born Jan. 28, 1923 in Wales, Great Britain, a daughter of Evan and Clara Bray Jones. She had lived on Sherwood Road, Scipio, and with her late husband, Gerald R. Dysart, helped operate the Twin Brooks Farm. Mr. Dysart passed away in March 2010. She was a member of the Scipio Community Church. Betty loved the farm and was happiest while working in her many gardens. She was active in her church and as a leader of 4-H taught many young people valuable skills while touching the lives of others everywhere she went.
She is survived by two daughters, Jane (Lee) Gendron, of Brewster, N.Y., and Nancy (David) Baildon Jr., of King Ferry; three grandchildren, Dennis Gendron, of Staatsburg, N.Y., Andrew Gendron (Kim Ruckle), of Brewster, and Katherine Baildon, of Ithaca; two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at the Wade Funeral Home, 22 Church St., Moravia. Burial will be in Scipio Rural Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Scipio Community Church.
The family would like to thank Longview, an Ithacare Community for the loving care she received while residing there and also Hospicare of Tompkins County for their wonderful compassion and kindness.
