AUBURN — Dana D. Bergerstock, 59, of Laraway Road, Aurelius, passed away peacefully early Friday morning Feb. 24, 2017, at Auburn Community Hospital.
He was born in Auburn on Sept. 10, 1957, the son of Yvonne Mundt and the late Duane Bergerstock and had been a lifelong area resident. Dana was a Union Springs High School graduate, class of 1975 and later went on to receive an associate's degree at Cayuga Community College. Prior to his retirement, Dana had been employed for more than 30 years at the former McQuay International in Auburn. Dana was an avid golfer, having the skills to even beat his brother with only one arm, when he was injured. He was a huge New York sports fan, enjoying his favorite Yankees, Knicks, Rangers and Giants. Dana also had a passion for DIRT Track Racing in which he traveled around to see many of the races. To know Dana, was to Love him. He brought a smile to your face, even in your saddest of times. His sense of humor, infectious laugh, vivid imagination and ' heart' of gold and always making sure everyone was having a good time, first, are just a few things that describe the kind of man Dana was. He was a "true" legend, even if it was in his own mind. Dana was known to like an occasional beer or melon from time to time. He will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate enough to get to know this "special" man!
He is survived by his loving mother Yvonne Mundt Bergerstock of Cayuga, two brothers Kevin (Michele) Bergerstock, Martial (Sylvia Yeager) Bergerstock, nephew Thomas Bergerstock, niece Morgan Bergerstock, Dylan Jordan, Wyatt and Trevor Klaczko that were like adopted grandchildren to Dana as well as many close friends, especially Sara (Dave) Klaczko and his close feline companion "Arnie."
Calling hours are this Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Pettigrass Funeral Home, with services to immediately follow at 6 p.m., all in the funeral home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.
Due to Dana's love for animals, especially stray cats, the family would like any contributions to be made in his memory to the SPCA, York St., Auburn, NY 13021.
