AURORA — David M. Wunder, 77, of Poplar Ridge Road, Aurora, passed away at home on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, after a long battle against cancer.
He was born in Sayre, Pa. on April 17, 1939. David graduated from Sherwood School in 1957. He was employed by Kings Feed Mill of Poplar Ridge and was a bus driver for SCCS. His greatest passion was dairy farming. He started his own farm in 1959 with 16 cows, which grew to a herd of 105 milkers by the 1990s. He actively worked with the cows until November 2016. “Farming - the hardest job you’ll ever love.”
Dave and his wife, Shirley, enjoyed square dancing with the Cayuga Cut-Ups. They also traveled with Country Wide Tours 11 times. His favorite place was Bryce Canyons.
David is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley Collins Wunder; his children, Dan (Cheryl) Wunder, Kris (David) Polanco, and Kathy (Jeff) Nedza; his grandchildren, Samantha, Zack, Tara, Kim, and Doug; his great-grandchild, Ellie, and his sisters, Patricia Wunder and Cindy Stephenson.
David was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Norma Maassen Wunder.
Calling hours are from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South St., Auburn, with the memorial service at noon. All are welcome to join us for a celebration of life luncheon beginning at 1 p.m. at Dugans Country Grill on Route 34B, Scipio.
