VICTORY — Kenneth King, 98, of Victory, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Scipio, N.Y. the son of the late Arthur King and Frances Leeson King. Prior to retirement, he was a Cayuga County Deputy Sheriff. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and as recent as the past 20 years, playing sports.
Ken graduated from Sherwood High School before enlisting in the Army Air Force during World War II. He had more than 60 combined years as a volunteer fireman in the Scipio and Victory Fire Departments. He served as treasurer many years for the Victory United Methodist Church. Ken also volunteered as a Scat Van driver for the Cayuga County Senior Citizens.
He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Morgan King and Wilber King; and a sister, Mary King Brigden.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Adrice Houghtaling King; son, Kevin King; three daughters, Claudia (Kevin) Hales, of Virginia, Alesia (John) Wayne, of West Virginia, and Kathleen (Jim) Nodine, of Victory; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at the Victory United Methodist Church with a 5 p.m. service to follow. Burial will be in the spring at Victory Cemetery.
