VISTA, Calif. — Mary C. Flanigan, 77, a former Auburn resident, passed away at her home in Vista, Calif., on Dec. 23, 2018.
A graduate of Mt. Carmel High School with the class of 1959, Mary also was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Nursing School in Elmira, N.Y. She was a U.S. Navy registered nurse during the Vietnam War. She had retired from Tri City Medical Center, Oceanside, Calif.
She was the daughter of Clement and Anne Lavey Flanigan. While in Auburn, Mary was a member of Holy Family Parish. Having relocated to California 40 years ago, and maintained many contacts in Auburn, N.Y., she was a world traveler. Mary was always helping others. She was a member of St. Francis Church of Assisi Church, Vista, Calif.
Surviving are three brothers and a sister, Joseph L. Flanigan, of Auburn, N.Y., Helen A. Flanigan, of Syracuse, N.Y., Raymond F. Flanigan, of Auburn, N.Y., and Charles R. (Deanna) Flanigan, of Auburn, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, and sister-in-law, Karen Flanigan.
Services were held in Vista, Calif., with an interment in Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Oceanside, Calif.
Local memorials may be gifted to either Cayuga Community College Nursing Scholarship Program, Hospice of the Finger Lakes, or Matthew House.
