Raymond E. Decker II

AUBURN — Raymond E. Decker II, 31, born on March 25, 1987, passed away on March 9, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, surrounded by his family and friends.

He leaves behind his fiancée and love of his life, Kiersten M. Warren; his cherished son, Sheamus M. Decker; his parents, Raymond and Jennifer (Byrne) Decker; his grandmother (Keen), Juliet Byrne; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Shannon Warren, Nana and Papa, Kookie and Bonnie Woodman; along with his sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, nephews, several aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends, whom will miss him dearly.

Ray was recently employed at Cayuga Correctional Facility in Moravia. Though his employment there was short, he made several new friends that he spoke of often. Ray had enjoyed a long career in the restaurant business working at Elderberry Pond, Skaneateles Country Club, The Hilton, and Highland Golf Course.

What Ray enjoyed most was spending time with his family, especially Kiersten and Sheamus. His second passion was fishing. His father always says “I created a monster when I put a pole in the kid’s hand.” Whether it be in a boat on a lake or standing on the bank of a stream, he was always looking for the next “big catch.” He enjoyed many good times fishing with his dad, uncles and friends. So, to all of you that fish, remember, he will be on your shoulders throwing a line along with you.

Raymond was predeceased by his grandparents, Russell and Marjorie Decker, and his grandfather, James E. Byrne (Bunky).

Ray’s laugh and smile were contagious and left a mark on everyone he met. Though he hated being the center of attention, he always lit up a room when walking in. Ray made friends easily and bonded close and lasting ties with most. To his cousins and friends, he was more like a brother. Raymond will be forever missed by all who knew him.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South St., Auburn. Services for family and close friends will immediately follow. There were will be a gathering for all family and friends starting at 6:30 p.m. at The Hilton.
