WEEDSPORT — Roger L. Donahue, 76, born April 16, 1941, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018 at the Finger Lakes Center for Living with family by his side.
Roger was the loving husband of 54 years of Ann (Compton) Donahue who passed in August of 2015.
He is survived by his two sons, Patrick R. (Kimberly) Donahue and Matthew E. Donahue; one grandson, Kody James Donahue; and a granddaughter, Ashlee Ann Donahue. Also surviving is a brother, David (Linda) Donahue, of Jordan, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Linda (Keith) Hitt; and several nieces and nephews.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Violet (Barrington) Donahue; two brothers, Bruce and Steven Donahue; and a brother-in-law, William Compton.
Roger was a proud member of the graduating class of Weedsport 1959. He and Ann were high school sweethearts and participated in reunions and alumni functions for all of their years together and have stayed in touch throughout the years.
He was the owner of Ace’s Lawncare and a partner/driver with his brother Bruce in drag racing.
Big Rog/Ace was a member of the Weedsport Masons, Lions Club, and an active community member volunteering his time with many different groups. He was also very interested in sports both participating in and coaching, and watching his kids, the Yankees, and SU.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, in the United Methodist Church, 2744 East Brutus St., Weedsport, with a short service immediately following.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the wonderful staff at FLCL for all of the care and love the Roger received.
Donations in memory of Roger may be sent to Weedsport United Methodist Church or Finger Lakes Center for Living in Auburn.
