AUBURN — Veronica Matviak Novak Thoryk, 93, of Auburn, died Thursday, July 12, 2018.
Mrs. Thoryk was a life resident of the Auburn area, the daughter of the late Adam and Mary Zanoviak Matviak. She was retired from Auburn Leathercrafters. She was a very active member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, and a member of the St. Marian Sisterhood. She could be found volunteering at almost any activity at the church. She was also a former member of FROC.
“Ronnie” is survived by two daughters, Nadine (Jack) Kubisch, of Englewood, Fla., and Andrea (Matthew) Landry, of Waterford, N.Y.; her son, Mark Novak and his wife, Christine Rinaldi, of Auburn; four grandchildren, R.J. Landry, Julia Stanley, Alexandra and Roxana Novak; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, John Novak and Andrew Thoryk; her sisters, Julia Walawender, Helen Malenich, Mary Guszcza, and Jean Matviak; and her brother, John Matvyak.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thoryk will be at 9 a.m. Monday, July 16, from the Plis Funeral Home, 220 State St., Auburn, and 9:30 a.m. in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Half Acre. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
