Wells College graduates walk during the college's commencement in Aurora Saturday.

HIT: To the graduating students from the two institutions of higher education in Cayuga County.

The classes of 2019 for Wells College in Aurora and Cayuga Community College in Auburn officially received their hard-earned degrees last weekend during commencement exercises at both campuses.

The sights and sounds of these students, their friends and relatives celebrating this major accomplishment were inspiring.

To the students, congratulations on a terrific achievement, and now do all you can to put your education to good use. We hope for many of you, that includes working and living in Cayuga County.

MISS: To the fire that damaged Auburn's downtown parking garage on Saturday.

A utility vehicle in the garage's basement level caught fire, and despite the efficient response of Auburn firefighters to get the blaze extinguished, some damage did occur and the result was some limitations on the garage's use by the public until repairs can be made.

HIT: To Tim Tebow, for connecting on his first home run of the season for the Syracuse Mets.

The former college football star and NFL player has struggled playing Triple-A baseball so far this season, but he's shown some signs of adjusting and on Sunday, he connected on his first blast over the wall. Hopefully it's a sign of some stronger play to come.
