According to (an article in The Citizen), John Katko is “incredibly disappointed” with the government shutdown. I’m “incredibly disappointed” as well but not for the same reason.
I’m disappointed because we see once again John Katko being dishonest. Katko laments failure to fund all those important programs he mentions. If Katko was really concerned about his programs he would understand that his and other Republicans’ craven capitulation to Trump’s childish tantrums is the real reason funding for his “critical programs” has lapsed. If the House Republicans had rejected naked partisan politics and supported the bipartisan “clean” funding bill the onus for this shutdown and funding lapse would be on the one responsible for it, namely Trump.
Oh, I’m disappointed with John Katko, but I’m not surprised. For the past two years, Katko has been beating his drum for “bipartisanship” and then voting exactly the opposite. That's just being dishonest, again.
