To all residents of Springport who do not know of me let me introduce myself. My name is William “Slim” Walter. I am running to hopefully become your highway superintendent.
I have worked for the town of Springport for over 16 years. You may have seen me mowing roadsides, driving the “Red” snowplow truck, repairing water leaks, or even changing sewer grinder pumps along the lake when your red light comes on and the alarm sounds. I work in both the highway and water/sewer departments. I do whatever it takes to get each job done.
Nancy Ryan Walter is my wife who has been employed at Cayuga Lake National Bank for over 28 years. Maybe you are a customer of hers or have seen her volunteering for various community organizations.
Our daughter, Amanda, is a junior at Syracuse University. Our son, Ryan, will be a senior at Union Springs this fall.
I have worked as a volunteer for numerous organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, Little League baseball in Union Springs and currently am the varsity coach for Port Byron/Union Springs baseball.

In over 16 years working for the town highway department, I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly. I will not use negative politics to make myself look like the better candidate.
I ask the residents of our township to trust in my promise to you that when elected to serve as your highway superintendent I will rapidly improve the daily operation of your township highway department and all the services the department provides to you. Please vote in the Republican primary on Tuesday, June 25.
