Impressed with its dignity, strong determined face, and lighting the path to freedom for slaves, I very much admire the extraordinary statue of Harriet Tubman outside the New York State Equal Rights Heritage Center.

Having visited and marveled at the statue in daylight, last evening I drove by the center during the dark of nighttime and saw the building bathed in light but Harriet Tubman’s statue was barely discernible in darkness.

This is wrong. The extraordinary statue commands lighted attention as much as the celebrated center close by.
