I am writing in response to an item appearing on June 7 in the Lake Life section regarding Pride Month events. The name of one of these events is “Sundays are a drag.” I find this sentence very offensive, as Sunday for many people is a day set aside to worship God. It is not a “drag” but a “holy” day and a joy. I am particularly offended as a Catholic because Sunday, June 23, is the Feast of Corpus Christi (The Body and Blood of Christ). There will be an outdoor procession with the Blessed Sacrament starting at St. Hyacinth’s Church at 3 p.m. and ending at St. Mary’s Church with Solemn Vespers and Benediction beginning at 4 p.m. This is a beautiful, inspiring and awesome celebration of our Catholic faith. Come and see. As is written in the Bible “if it does not please you to serve the Lord, decide today whom you will serve. As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” (Josh. 24:15) Jesus is our pride and joy.
