Hours after being recalled by the Chicago Blackhawks, Auburn native Jeremy Morin scored his first career NHL goal.
Morin beat Dallas Stars’ goalie Andrew Raycroft 1:36 into the second period to extend Chicago’s lead to 3-0. Morin received a pass 25 feet out from teammate Dave Bolland and fired a wrist shot that eventually found the back of the net. The game was still in progress at press time. In six games with the Blackhawks, Morin now has one goal and an assist with a plus-3 rating.
On Wednesday, the Blackhawks placed star forward Marian Hossa on the injured list, freeing up roster space while Patrick Kane also nurses a leg injury. The move allowed Chicago to recall forwards Morin and Rob Klinkhammer from the Rockford IceHogs.
