Marion Quigley moved up three spots Saturday to take fourth place overall and third for small schools in the pentathlon at the NYSPHSAA track and field championships in Middletown.

The Jordan-Elbridge senior took third in the long jump (6.14) for 617 points and added a time of 4:38.86 for 687 points in the 1500m run. He picked up 1,951 points in 110m high hurdles, high jump and shot put on Friday.

Quigley finished with an overall score of 3255, 222 points behind Walt Whitman's John Poplawski.

Quigley came into the meet ranked third in the state after posting a score of 3322 — enough for first place and a new program record — at the Section III state qualifier meet at Cicero-North Syracuse May 31.

Quigley finishes his varsity career with three state qualifier championships and three trips to states in the pentathlon. Last year he placed fourth for small schools and 11th overall.
