Cato-Meridian's Cassie Chalon looks to make a pass against Weedsport at Cato-Meridian High School on Feb. 1.

Cassie Chalon scored 28 points and grabbed 32 rebounds to lead the Cato-Meridian girls basketball team to a 58-35 victory over Fabius-Pompey Tuesday evening.

She also posted five blocks and five steals. Eighteen of her 26 points came in the second half.

Hannah Jones chipped in with 14 points.

Southern Cayuga 56, Odessa-Montour 51: Lauren Sherman scored 26 points to guide the Chiefs to a win.

Sherman added four rebounds. Catie Kopp recorded a double-double on 19 points, 10 rebounds, six steals and five assists.

The Chiefs were down 29-20 at halftime, but rallied to take the lead in the third quarter and then protected that lead in the fourth.

Weedsport 72, LaFayette 39: Sydney Gilfus guided the Warriors with 17 points, and behind her was Suzie Nemec with 15, Cassi Carroll with 14 and Emma Stark with nine.

Weedsport (4-0) is at Port Byron Thursday.

Skaneateles 62, Chittenango 46: Olivia Dobrovosky was one of two Lakers to reach double figures in scoring, totaling 27 points. Chloe Metz was the other with 12 points, while Maeve Canty chipped in with nine.

Skaneateles improves to 2-1.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Southern Cayuga 56, Odessa-Montour 48: The Chiefs rode a balanced offensive attack to their second win of the year.

Collin Rejman led the team with 12 points, Jared Howe scored 11 points, John Groth added 10 points and Conner Bennett finished with nine.

Southern Cayuga (2-1) is at Marathon next Tuesday.

Moravia 76, Union Springs 51: Kaden Hooper led the Blue Devils with 26 points, Gavin Stayton scored 11 and Gavin Genson had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. 

Kyle Bailey was the Wolves' leader with 10 points. 

Whitesboro 65, Auburn 54: Kaleb Cook paced the Maroons with a 23-point night, Shaheed Beal scored 13 and Jay Baranick had 10.

BOYS SWIMMING

Southern Cayuga 56, Lansing 37: The Chiefs won nine events, including two of the three relays.

Joseph Angotti took the 100 butterfly (56.59) and the 100 breaststroke (1:08.47), while JD Rejman won both the 200 freestyle (2:03.26) and 100 backstroke (1:06.20). Jordan Stephenson was first in the 50 freestyle (26.37), Owen Overhiser won the 100 freestyle (1:03.43), and Aidan Brown finished first in the 500 freestyle (7:09.71).

Stephenson, Angotti, Rejman and Jamison Murray had the best time in the 200 medley relay (1:59.02), while Rejman, Overhiser, Hunter Ford and Angotti won the 400 freestyle relay (4:04.77).

Southern Cayuga is 2-0.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Davis 91, Cayuga 58: The Spartans were down only 41-36 at halftime, but Davis pulled away in the second half.

Hanna Keyser posted 12 points, six rebounds and three steals, Loren Clifford had 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists, and Payton Noeller recorded nine points. Breayle Williams added eight points and a team-high 11 rebounds.

Cayuga is 4-3 and travels to Herkimer Monday.

VOLLEYBALL

Cortland 3, Cato-Meridian 1: The Blue Devils fell in three sets, 25-10, 25-8, 25-14.

Sydney Stevens and Marissa Teska (three kills, one ace) each had five blocks. Makayla Soutar added a pair of assists and blocks, while Monica Bell finished with three blocks and a kill.
