Morgan Marl tossed a four-hitter to help lead the Auburn softball team to a 10-1 victory over West Genesee on Thursday afternoon.
Marl allowed one unearned run with a walk and struck out two. Marl helped herself out from the plate with a pair of hits, including a double, two runs and a RBI.
Abby Marinelli (two runs) and Grace Baranick (RBI, run) also had two hits each. Meghan Wiseman (two RBIs) and Doray DiLallo each homered. Morgan Cook had a hot, two RBIs and scored two runs. Katelyn Stoddard added a hit and a RBI.
Candor 16, Southern Cayuga 1: Ellie Brozon went 2-for-3 including a double, scoring the lone run for the Chiefs.
Lauren Collier also went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Brozon pitched a complete game, striking out six.
Trumansburg 19, Moravia 6: Josh Crull went 2-for-3 for the Blue Devils, scoring one run. Tanner Jones (walk) and Nick Johnson both posted two hits and two runs, while Hunter Purdy (run, walk), Nik Smith and Gavin Stayton all doubled. AJ Lawton and Nate Eberhardt (walk) added singles.
Stayton pitched six innings, allowing four earned runs.
Auburn 19, Central Square 4: Gabrielle McGinn scored four goals and added five assists for the Maroons.
Natalie Calandra-Ryan added four goals. Alayna Foos scored three goals. Gracie Giannettino and Abbie Izzo each added a pair of goals and an assist. Jillian Alberici scored a pair of goals. Anna Montgomery (assist) and Claire Netti each had a goal. Caroline Netti contributed three assists.
Goalie Lexy Driscoll made six saves. Auburn (5-1) hosts Frontier from Section VI on Saturday.
Cato-Meridian 235, APW 302: Austin Hallet paced the Blue Devils with a 44. Jay Hunter carded a 43 and Mike Grant shot a 44.
Cato-Meridian is now 2-0.
Dryden 201, Southern Cayuga 263: Jon Heath led the Chiefs with a 43. Collin Walter carded a 46, Jackson Otis shot a 51, Jacob McCarty had a 58 and Todd Wasleff added a 65.
Southern Cayuga (0-2) next golfs on April 23 at Elmira TAE.
Marcellus 231, Weedsport 317: Nick Spingler shot a 52 and Wyatt LaForce scored a 60 for the Warriors.
Weedsport is 0-2.
Elmira Notre Dame 7, Southern Cayuga 0: The Chiefs' Sam Perez had the most competitive match, at third singles, he fell 6-4, 6-2.
Southern Cayuga is 0-3 on the season.
TRACK AND FIELD
Marathon Spring Fling: Southern Cayuga's Alex deFerrante took first in the girls 400m run (1:04.53), while the Chiefs also won the boys 4x400m relay (3:58.67) featuring Chris Morris, Jacob Schmitt, Nate Thurston and Alex Larsen. Bridget Davis ranked second in the girls shot put (29-8.75) and Steven Sherman came in second in the boys long jump (19-3). The Chiefs' Isabel Rodriguez, Sophie Bennett, Bridget Hastings and deFerrante were runners-up in the girls 4x400m relay.
Union Springs' Molly Yorkey was the runner-up in the girls 1500m run (5:21.11), Ajani Huff was second in the boys 200m dash (24.29), Jose Montalvo came in second in the boys shot put (35-6), Grace Kime placed second in the girls discus (70-5)
The Wolves won the girls 4x400m relay (4:42.72).
Moravia's Andrew Badman won the boys 400m run (52.94) and 200m dash (24.29), and Lynnae Russell finished second in the girls 400m run (1:07.69).
Tully 11, Weedsport 8: Aubrey Ouderkirk led the Warriors with three hits (two triples) and an RBI, while Taylor Hunter added two hits (double) and a run.
Lauren Spingler had a hit and an RBI, and Olivia Rudick had a hit and a run.
Weedsport (2-1) travels to Cato-Meridian Thursday.
