Five Panthers recorded multiple hits, as the Port Byron softball team topped Moravia 20-2 Wednesday afternoon.
Ava Mills recorded three hits, five runs and a run for the Panthers, while Rileigh Gray had three hits (triple, homer), three runs and two RBIs. Jenna Waite added four hits (two doubles), three RBIs and three runs, and Kira McLoughlin finished with two hits, two RBIs and three runs.
McLoughlin went the distance in the circle. She struck out eight and allowed five hits, five walks and a pair of earned runs.
Brooke Purdy had two hits for the Blue Devils. Kate Baylor had an RBI, while Bailey Williamson collected a hit and a run.
Thomas A Edison 18, Union Springs 3: Telona White had a pair of hits, including a two-run homer, but the Wolves fell to the defending section champions.
Hayley Short singled. Hailey Smith gave up 13 hits and two walks in the loss.
Union Springs is now 3-1.
Groton 17, Southern Cayuga 4: Kylie Rejman went 3-for-3 with two runs and was a homer shy of the cycle.
Ellie Brozon had two hits and one run, and gave up six earned runs from the circle. Avery Colton had a hit and a run, while Molly Walter, Lauren Collier and Molleigh Johnson each had a hit.
Lansing 253, Southern Cayuga 283: Collin Walter carded a 52 in the loss for the Chiefs.
Jackson Otis added a 55, Jacob McCarty had a 57, Jon Heath finished with a 58 and Jared Howe had a 61.
Southern Cayuga looks to rebound from the season-opening loss with a trip to Dryden on Thursday.
Cazenovia 4, Skaneateles 1: Andrew Neumann and Nate Fouts won second doubles for Skaneateles (7-5, 6-3).
GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD
Cato-Meridian 106, Manlius Pebble Hill 21; Cato-Meridian 99, Faith Heritage 32: The Blue Devils' Hannah Janes, Kennedy Pelkey, Ella Power and Jaelin Hill took first place in the 4x800 relay (12:12), while Pelkey, Power, Ariana Proper and Grace Cady won the 4x400 relay (4:55.8).
Power also won the 400m dash (1:10.8), and Cady took first in the 3000m run (12:35).
Kendra Deville won the long jump (13-1.5), Kyleigh Walton came in first in the 100m high hurdles (20.04), Chelsea Dennison was first in the 100m dash and the 200m dash (29.7), Cassie Chalon won the shot put (27-4.5) and Sarah Perez took first place in the discus (93-9).
BOYS TRACK AND FIELD
Cato-Meridian 118, Manlius Pebble Hill 23; Cato-Meridian 81, Faith Heritage 60: Ethan Divelbliss, Josh Lovejoy, Hunter White and Trent Nearhood won the 4x100 (48.2), while Connor Griffin, White, Chad Thompson and Shawn Hunter came in first in the 4x400 relay (3:55).
Hunter also came in first in the 400m dash (57.2), and Nearhood won the 110m high hurdles (16.6) and the triple jump (37). Divelbliss took first place in the 100m dash (12.5), while Thompson won the 400m hurdles (1:04.3).
Griffin came in first in the 1600m run (5:39), Lovejoy finished first in the 200m dash (24.7) and the pole vault (10-6), and Santana Salvador came in first in the discus (101).
Jamesville-DeWitt 3, Auburn 1: Katelyn Stoddard had two hits (double) and one run for the Maroons.
Abby Marinelli and Grace Baranick each added a double. Morgan Marl pitched all seven innings, striking out five and allowing nine hits, three walks and a single earned run.
Union Springs/Port Byron 5, Odessa-Montour 2: Zach Decaro won the first singles match for the Wolves (6-2, 6-1), while Sarah Lutkins blanked her opponent at fourth doubles (6-0, 6-0).
The Wolves also won all three doubles matches: Tom Radley and Ryan Huber in first doubles (6-1, 6-0), Simon Mills and Madison Gannon at second doubles (6-0, 6-4) and Jessica Morgan and Jenna Clark at third doubles (6-2, 6-2).
