The Southern Cayuga girls basketball team overcame a 21-8 deficit to beat Newfield, 59-49, in overtime Tuesday night.

The Chiefs outscored the Trojans 14-4 in overtime.

Southern Cayuga's Catie Kopp registered a triple-double with 16 points, 14 steals, 10 rebounds and seven assists.

Lauren Sherman added 19 points and seven steals, while Brooke Walter had 10 points, five rebounds and four steals.

Southern Cayuga (6-3) welcomes Delhi on Saturday.


Moravia 58, Tioga 56: Kaleb Stayton scored with three seconds left to lift the Blue Devils over the Tigers.

Stayton finished with 17 points. Kaden Hooper added 17 points, while Carter Flick finished with 12 points.

Moravia (7-3) travels to Groton Friday.

Newfield 67, Southern Cayuga 44: Collin Rejman paced the Chiefs with 17 points, while Conner Bennett had 16 points.

Southern Cayuga hosts Elmira Notre Dame on Friday.


Chittenango 3, Port Byron 0: The Bears swept the Panthers 25-11, 25-15, 25-16.

Port Byron's Alli Ryan recorded seven kills, as well as a pair of aces and digs. Nadia Edley added six kills and two blocks, Olivia Martens had 11 assists and a kill, and Emily Ryan finished with two aces, two kills and an assist.

Port Byron hits the road to take on Manlius Pebble Hill on Thursday.
