Six Auburn Doubledays players saw action on the losing side as the North All-Stars fell to the South All-Stars 7-1 Tuesday in the New York-Penn League All-Star Game in State College.
The South squad scored three runs in both the first and third innings, and then tacked on another score in the fourth to take a 7-1 lead over the North. Neither team scored a run from the fifth inning on.
The Doubledays' Kyle Marinconz, who started at second base, drove in the North's lone run in the second inning when his single scored Lowell's Tyler Dearden.
Jacob Rhinesmith, Israel Pineda and Pablo O'Connor all went hitless.
Both of Auburn's all-star pitchers were able to get into the game. Angel Guillen pitched the second inning, allowed one hit and one walk while striking out two. David Smith pitched the sixth inning and was charged with two hits against.
Auburn (30-24) returns to action Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Mahoning Valley. The Doubledays currently sit two games back of the Scrappers for the Pinckney Division lead and are a 1/2 game ahead of the Brooklyn Cyclones for the league's lone wild card.
