Skaneateles' Lily Buchholz competes in the 200 medley relay at the Section III, Class C meet at the Skaneateles YMCA and Community Center Friday.

Lily Buchholz bettered her own record at the Section III state qualifier meet at Nottingham High School Sunday.

The Skaneateles sophomore won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.51, which breaks her own record she set for the Lakers' program and all of Section III, Class C on Friday at the class meet.

Buchholz also placed third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.63. Buchholz already earned a spot at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association meet at Ithaca College on Nov. 17 by getting a cut time of 53.86 on Friday.

“I’ve been working really hard for this,” Buchholz said of making it to states on Friday. “It was my goal last year and I just missed it. This whole year I’ve been working for it, so it’s nice to get it.”

Auburn's Kennedy Wilson was the runner-up in the 50 freestyle (25.14) and placed sixth in the 100 freestyle (55.77)

The Maroons' Maura Moochler, Sydney Murinka, Claire Alexander and Wilson placed third in the 200 medley relay (1:54.64) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.05)
