Syracuse men's basketball commit Joe Girard III continues to rack up the accolades.
Girard, a senior for Glens Falls, was named the 2018-19 MaxPreps High School Athlete of the Year Wednesday after leading the Indians to New York state titles in football and boys basketball.

After quarterbacking Glens Falls to a football title in the fall, the 6-2 guard scored 1,457 points in basketball to help guide the program to its first state championship. He also owns the state scoring mark in basketball with 4,763, shattering the record previously held by current NBA player Lance Stephenson. He ranks 10th all time in scoring nationally.
Recent male athletes to be honored by MaxPreps include Heisman Trophy-winners Kyler Murray and Derrick Henry, NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes, and NBA first-round draft pick Lonzo Ball.
